Popverse is taking a much-needed break before San Diego Comic-Con (but we'll be back!)

It's time to rest up before a big summer!

As we get ready for the blockbuster announcements and infectious niche news coming later this month from San Diego Comic-Con, Popverse is taking a brief pause here on to prepare for that - and what's next.

The Popverse website will be going on a short summer break beginning Thursday, July 11, as we not only prepare for SDCC 2024, but also put the finishing touches behind the scenes on a new website platform to continue delivering news, interviews, guides, and more about comics, tv, movies and conventions, the best way we know how.

The move to a new platform comes following IGN's acquisition of ReedPop's gaming websites (under the umbrella name of Gamer Network), announced back in May 2024. As we wave wistfully as our colleagues depart to new shores, we must also say goodbye to our current website structure, which leaves with them. In its place, Popverse (and ReedPop, as well as its parent company RX) have been developing an all new website platform for Popverse as we continue to grow here in our third year (and beyond).

Follow us on social media as we'll continue to update you on our progress, and also post any important news in the interim.

What does this mean for our readers and viewers?

Popverse will be going into a brief hibernation period as the transition takes place, so we can be back well ahead of Comic-Con International: San Diego when it begins Wednesday, July 24.

What does this mean for Popverse members?

With this migration to a new Popverse website, our Popverse members can look forward to a more streamlined user experience in signing in to access our all the various member benefits, as well as how to renewing a membership, or simply signing up for the first time for new members. Members will receive an email detailing the changes in the next few days, before the new website launches, to help be better prepared.

July 16 is the first day of Popverse's exclusive NYCC presale of celebrity autographs and photo-ops for our SuperFan members, and this website change will not affect that. Details about the NYCC autos & photos pre-sale for Popverse Superfan members will be sent out by email closer to the date.

However, during our break, the sign-up process for those wanting to become Popverse members at any level including SuperFan for the first time will be paused. We very much wish this wasn't the case, but our technological overlords have assured us that it's necessary, and if there's one thing we know from working on the internet, it's never to argue with technological overlords.

During our downtime, if members wish to change their membership status, they can do so via the patron portal, or by emailing

What about this weekend's Florida Supercon?

Never fear, Popverse will be there filming and writing up all the big moments at Florida Supercon 2024. While we will not be publishing on the site during FSC 2024, we will be posting written reporting from the convention when we return. Moreover, as previously announced, we will be making all of the FSC 2024 free - both here, and on our YouTube page. The panel videos will debut on Popverse's YouTube, and be followed here on the Popverse website after our brief break.

And remember...

If you've made it this far, we appreciate it. It's important to take breaks, especially before big events. Maybe you should consider taking a break too before your next big adventure? We highly recommend it.

We will see you soon, and, yes: we miss you already, too.
