For anyone who’s already read DC K.O. #1, there’s a bit of a surprise at the end of the issue — namely, what definitely looks like a cameo by Absolute Batman, Absolute Wonder Woman, and Absolute Superman. Speaking at NYCC 2025, DC K.O. (and Absolute Batman) writer Scott Snyder confirmed their appearance, but promised that Absolute fans don’t have any reason to worry about their new favorite titles.
For those who haven’t read DC K.O., the closing of the issue promises a future appearance of Darkseid’s “three destroyers. Horsemen, from a world where his rule is absolute. Monsters.” The image on the page is pretty clear, although it’s only a shot of the characters’ legs:
Speaking at NYCC, Scott Snyder made it even more clear — while also clearing up concerns that the scene might have provoked in some fans.
DC K.O. “brings in the Absolute characters as well,” Snyder told the assembled retailers during an appearance at the show on Wednesday night, before adding, “It is not going to in any way impact the Absolute books, though. It will allow those books to continue to go completely unimpeded, so don't worry about that. The Absolute universe is not closing. Instead, it’s… I want to say expanding, but [that’s] later for the week…”
Don’t think we didn’t notice that unsubtle tease, Mr. Snyder. This is probably a really good time to remind everyone that the DC Comics - DC K.O. - What’s Next? panel is taking place at NYCC 2025 on Saturday at 12:15pm Eastern, right…? (We're liveblogging it for those playing along at home.)
