Aubrey Plaza is the latest actor to join Marvel's Agatha: Coven of Chaos
Agatha's Disney+ Coven of Chaos continues to grow.
Years after Guardians of the Galaxy brought Parks and Recreation’s Chris Pratt into the MCU, his on-screen wife from the beloved NBC sitcom is now following in his footsteps. Variety is reporting that Aubrey Plaza has signed on to appear in the upcoming WandaVision spinoff, Agatha: Coven of Chaos.
The casting follows yesterday’s news that Heartstopper actor Joe Locke was also joining the Disney+ show. As with Locke, it’s currently unclear what character Plaza will be playing in the series, which follows Kathryn Hahn’s fan-favorite character from the 2021 Disney+ series WandaVision, Agatha Harkness.
Plaza’s entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe will actually be her second Marvel project to date; prior to this, she appeared in the first two seasons of FX’s Legion, loosely based on the X-Men and New Mutants supporting character. Her character in that show, Lenny Busker, was later revealed to be a false personality used by Amahl Farouk, AKA the Shadow King. Originally written for a male actor, Plaza reportedly asked that no dialogue was changed following her casting, allowing her to play the character as gender fluid.
Agatha: Coven of Chaos is currently in pre-production at Marvel for an unspecified launch on Disney+ in the future. The show is being executive produced by head writer Jac Schaffer, repeating her same positions from WandaVision.
