Marvel architect Jonathan Hickman is bringing his creator owned universe to comic shops for the first time

3 Worlds 3 Moons has signed a new deal with Dark Horse Entertainment to bring its fantasy sci-fi to comic stores starting summer 2026

The Popverse coverage of the ComicsPRO Annual Meeting 2026 is brought to you by Lunar Distribution. Commited to Retailers. Focused on the Future of Comics.

Announced at ComicsPro 2026 in California, 3 Worlds 3 Moons — the creative collective created by Ultimate Spider-Man writer Jonathan Hickman and artists Mike del Mundo and Mike Huddleston — has signed with Dark Horse Entertainment to bring its science fiction/fantasy comics to a wider audience, starting this summer.

“Needless to say, we’re very excited about this- it’s been a long time coming. We’re thrilled about the opportunity to reach a whole new audience with what we’ve been building here; this represents a huge part of how we grow and expand from here,” the group explained in the latest mailing from its Substack account. “We always knew bringing these books to retail was a part of that next phase. Dark Horse have been incredible partners to us in that effort so far, they care deeply about the quality of these books and making sure they resonate within the market. We couldn’t be happier about this collaboration with them.”

Prior to this partnership, the 3 Worlds 3 Moons material was limited to fans who had backed the group directly, either via Substack subscription, the group’s webstore, or crowdfunding efforts.

The first release as part of the 3W3M/Dark Horse partnership will be Foundations, the inaugural comic set in the shared universe setting created by the group. The 48-page comic is written by Jonathan Hickman and Nick Spencer, with art from Mike del Mundo, Mike Huddleston, and Jerome Opena. Future releases will include Shift and Arrivals, and three ‘sourcebooks’ of world building, titled Systems, Maps, and Histories. Publishing plans currently exist through early 2027 and beyond, per the companies.

The Dark Horse edition of Foundations will be released in June.

About ComicsPRO Industry Conference

Every year, the giants of the North American comic industry congregate behind closed doors for a closed-door conference to talk about the changing landscape of comics, what they've learned, and what they are all planning to do in the future. It's not a comic convention for fans, though - it's in a B2B event called the ComicsPRO Annual Meeting, and this year Popverse is going there to bring it all to you. At the 2026 Comics PRO Annual Meeting, Popverse will be covering the announcements, the conversations, and the insight from the likes of Marvel Comics, DC Comics, VIZ Media, Yen Press, Image Comics, Skybound Entertainment, and more.
