Are you ready for the Absolute Dynamic Duo? Absolute Batman writer Scott Snyder has been teasing the introduction of Robin, but he hasn’t specified if that Robin will be Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown, or Carrie Kelley. We’re going to assume Bruce hasn’t had time to sire Damian Wayne yet, but I suppose anything is possible. It should also be noted that we’ve already seen Dick Grayson as a paramedic in Absolute Batman #9.
So, who is Absolute Robin? Snyder assures readers that we’ll meet the Boy (or Girl) Wonder soon, but there was something interesting about his phrasing.
“You’re going to meet the Robins. And the concept of Robin comes in [Absolute Batman #20]. We have a lot of introductions,” Scott Snyder says during a panel at MegaCon 2026.
No, this isn’t a spelling error. Snyder says “Robins,” plural. In case there was any doubt, Snyder playfully emphasized it. We will be getting multiple versions of Robin in the Absolute Universe.
Snyder went a bit further during another panel the next day, revealing that the cover with the giant R isn’t all that it seems. “We have a big reveal coming also. I don’t know if they said or this is something I’m not supposed to say, but whatever. You’re here on a Sunday. So that cover with the R, that big R, is not the real cover.”
“The R is going to drop away, and you’re going to see the designs of what we’re thinking for Robin. We’re going to do that really soon. We didn’t want to spoil it. So, all the artists out in the world that are doing variant covers have those designs. They’re all encrypted like watermarks so nobody could share them.”
Absolute Batman #20 hits stores on May 13.
Batman is the most well-known superhero in the world — surprisingly, given how much he loves hanging out in the dark. But between his comics, TV shows, movies, games, and more, DC's Dark Knight is the hero this city/country/world/universe needs, and we have all you need to enjoy him even more:
