And before their tale is through, you'll see Delilah in a way you never have before: as a novice.
We got the chance to sit down with Nijkamp ahead of the release of The Briarwoods OGN, the third and final entry into Dark Horse's original graphic novel series that serves as a prequel to Prime Video's The Legend of Vox Machina. With so many fans already familiar with Deliliah's skullduggery from the first chapter of the animated series, we wondered, what new light (or darkness) was Nijkamp shining on the necromancer?
"Getting into Delilah's past was just such a joy," Nijkamp said, "I think it'll be It'll be really fun for readers to see how Delilah changes over time [...] In the animated series, it was always there right from the beginning that she was just this manipulative student trying to figure out a way to make everything go her way. One of the things I loved in these flashback scenes is showing that that doesn't always happen immediately, but she gets more manipulative as time goes on. She gets cleverer about twisting and tweaking people's intentions."
Besides her Vox Machina origins, though, Nijkamp said that the third and final entry into their Whitestone Chronicles will examine Delilah as part of the larger Exandrian landscape.
"It'll also be enjoyable to see some links to other campaigns that are relevant for Delilah," she concluded. "Being able to tie all of that together was fun."
The Legend of Vox Machina season 4 is streaming now on Prime Video. The Legend of Vox Machina: The Whitestone Chronicles Volume 3--The Briarwoods comes to bookstores everywhere June 30.
