Absolute Batman's astrological birth chart is perfect, actually

Using Bruce Wayne's birthday in DC Comics' Absolute Batman #1, I figured out his astrological birth chart

Listen, I may be a man of science today, but I'm not above indulging in a bit of astrology. The first time I was given my astrological birth chart, I felt like I was being personally attacked by how accurate it was. Like, what do you mean my Leo moon signifies that I take karaoke way too seriously? How do you know this about me?! I came out here to have a good time, and I'm feeling attacked all of a sudden.

But I'm not the area of focus here; rather, it's Absolute Batman. Whew. In order to get a complete picture of someone's astrological birth chart, we need to know the date, location, and ideally time of their birth. We know from Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta's Absolute Batman #1 that Absolute Bruce was born on February 19, 2004 according to this police photo, making him a Gen Z legend. But his location, Jules, his location! We do know from Batman comics that Gotham is located in New Jersey. Being a New Yorker myself, my mental image of Gotham has always been Hoboken, but to my surprise, Gotham is located somewhere in South Jersey - in Phillies territory. For simplicity's sake, I used Newport, New Jersey, as the location of Absolute Batman's birth.  Of course, we don't know what time Zoomer Bruce was born, so I just used 12 AM.

And before we begin, yes, take all of this with a grain of salt. I understand that part of what makes astrology so enduring is that it is built on broad statements that apply to lots of people. I'm doing all this just to have a bit of a laugh and to celebrate our favorite massive Bat-Guy, okay? So without much further ado, let's take a gander at Absolute Bruce's birth chart:

Now, you may be looking at this chart of numbers, letters, and symbols, thinking to yourself, "Jules, what the hell am I looking at?" So, your astrological birth chart notes where the planets were at the time and place of your birth. The thinking here is that the expression of the planets, which each govern a different aspect of personality, like emotional life, communication, love, anger, etc., is shaped by the astrological sign that they were in at the time of your corporeal debut. Just run with me here.

I won't go through the entirety of Absolute Bruce's birth chart, because we would be here all day, so I'll direct your attention to some standout details. Cafe Astrology, the site I used to determine Absolute Bats' birth chart, notes that he's got a unique "Conjunction between the Sun and Uranus." The site states that it is "natural" for Absolute Bruce to "question tradition." Ever the unique one, he "naturally rebel[s] against that which is established." On top of that, he "believe[s] in equality" too. This couldn't be truer for Absolute Batman, as a working-class fella taking on the establishment of Gotham City. Absolute Batman writer Scott Snyder has said that this scrappier version of Batman stands in contrast to someone like Absolute Joker, who holds systemic power within Gotham.

Moreover, this conjunction makes Absolute Bruce's life "interesting" because he "invite[s] unusual or adventurous experiences" into his world, which is a pretty understated way to describe the horrors that bro went through in order to defeat Absolute Bane

Absolute Bruce's Moon being in Aquarius is also worth looking at. Your Moon sign represents your emotional life, and Bruce being a Lunar Aquarian is apt because of his eccentric streak and tendency to remain emotionally detached. Aquarius is a sign often associated with being a loner, and while Batman has a close network of allies, he still can't help but aura farm emotionally from atop a tower in Gotham (honestly, same). Lunar Aquarians are also interested in human nature and studying why people do what they do, which fits in with Absolute Bruce's studies in chemistry, applied mechanics, criminal psychology, military theory, and sociocultural history mentioned in the series' first issue. Lastly, Cafe Astrology notes that the "Aquarian tendency to be humanitarian shows up powerfully" in Lunar Aquarians, which certainly applies to almost any version of Batman, especially in Daniel Warren Johnson's story in the Absolute Batman Annual

If you've been reading Absolute Batman from the very beginning, you'd know that as an engineer, Absolute Bruce is committed to building a legacy in Gotham City. Whether he's wearing a hard hat or the cowl, Absolute Batman is all about his projects and vision. The placement of his Mars in Taurus is a great expression of this trait, because they possess both the patience and motivation to achieve their goals, no matter how long it takes. Cafe Astrology states that "most have well-defined long-term goals and the determination to achieve them."

Lastly, Absolute Batman's Jupiter is in the fourth house, which Cafe Astrology states is responsible for his belief in justice. This placement also makes family life "very important to him," which we can see in his relationship with his mother, Martha. In addition, this makes him a committed friend, reflected in his looking after his buddy Waylon, who is now the Absolute Universe's Killer Croc, as well as Ozzie and Harvey, who have both been disfigured.
