DC's Absolute Scarecrow revealed by Scott Snyder ahead of Absolute Batman debut

Absolute Scarecrow is coming to the pages of DC Comics soon

Absolute Batman has been the gift that keeps on giving at DC Comics. Writer Scott Snyder and artist Nick Dragotta have given fans an electrifying new vision of Batman and his rogues gallery over the course of the seventeen-issue series thus far. And now, Snyder has teased the debut of Absolute Scarecrow.

On the site formerly known as Twitter, Snyder posted an image of Absolute Scarecrow with the caption "The straw man... #AbsoluteScarecrow."

If you've read Snyder and Greg Capullo's Batman run and had the shit scared out of you by the faceless Joker in the Death of the Family arc, Absolute Scarecrow may be activating some of the same neurons. That's certainly the case for me at least. But while Death of the Family Joker, with his stapled-on face skin, seemed to be wearing skin from only one individual, that doesn't seem to be the case with Absolute Scarecrow. The Absolute straw man has a certain Leatherface thing going on with the flesh-colored mask and stitch marks.

What's also unnerving about Absolute Scarecrow is the buttons over the eyes. Does this mean that this Scarecrow doesn't need, you know, eyes to see? Or is it a Coraline Other Mother situation where the buttons still function as eyes? Either way, I do not want him in my house (except in comic book form).

We don't know when Absolute Scarecrow is going to pop into Absolute Batman, but keep your eyes (or your buttons?) peeled for when he does.
