Batman x Gorillaz: The co-creator of the iconic cartoon band returns to DC for a cover for Gargoyle of Gotham's final issue

Jamie Hewlett, the illustrator behind Gorillaz, has lent his talents to a variant cover for DC's Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham #4

The end is now in sight for Rafael Grampá's Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham series from DC's Black Label imprint. The stylish comic book story, written and drawn by Grampá, has featured distinctive designs for both the Dark Knight and the villains he's faced in the story alike. And while Grampá's prowess as an artist cannot be denied, one of the loveliest parts of the series has been the variant covers drawn by Gorillaz character designer and illustrator, Jamie Hewlett.

Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham #4 will be out on February 18, 2026. If you want a copy of Hewlett's cover, head down to your local comic book shop and order it before January 19, 2026, which is the Final Order Cutoff Date for the book. Take a look at the cover below.

Hewlett's art brings to life the villain Crytoon, whom Grampá created for the story. And, this isn't the first time that Hewlett has drawn a variant for Gargoyle of Gotham. He drew Batman in a distinctly Gorillaz-like style for Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham #3. As much as I do love Hewlett's other Gargoyle of Gotham cover, this upcoming one of Crytoon is truly something special. It highlights how Grampá's incredible character designs translate well to other artists' drawing styles, and the soft focus on Crytoon's face is an unexpected detail. Us Batman fans continue to eat well in Gotham City.
