Between DC K.O. and Absolute Batman, Scott Snyder has never had more fun at DC Comics... even during the 'New 52' era

Scott Snyder says DC is going through a creative renaissance, and it’s the most fun he’s ever had doing superhero comics

Scott Snyder is having a blast, and it isn’t hard to see why.

Absolute Batman is easily one of the biggest titles DC has had in years, breaking numerous sales records. DC K.O., an event he co-wrote with Joshua Williamson, was a critical and commercial success. Snyder has been in the comics industry for decades, but he’s says that he's never had more fun than he’s having now.

“I try not to bullshit you guys ever,” Scott Snyder told the crowd during the DC Comics: What's Next panel at MegaCon 2026. “I don’t go out and shill for DC when I’m not happy about DC. But this is the most fun I’ve ever had in superhero comics. The culture in DC, the creator-forward nature, editorial being awesome, the synergy between departments, publicity, marketing, and sales. It just feels like we’re all on the same team. They kind of said comics was over. Fuck it, let’s show them how comics are better than ever.”

The creators are having fun, the retailers are having fun, and the readers are definitely having fun. Snyder is right, things are better than ever for DC right now.

Absolute Batman continues monthly from DC; the collected edition of DC K.O. will be released in August. DC Next Level launches this month and continues through 2026.
