DC’s new Lobo comic by Skottie Young and Jorge Corona hits a small delay, just as the character’s big comeback and movie debut ramps up

Highly anticipated Lobo #1 slips two weeks as DC moves the launch deeper into March.

One of the most anticipated new superhero comic book launches of 2026 is DC's Lobo from writer Skottie Young and artist Jorge Corona. It's been 10 years since the character's last solo series, and comes just as he is primed to make his big-screen debut with Aquaman's Jason Momoa sliding over to be the Big Bastich in June 2026's Supergirl movie. After being announced back in October however, it's hit one small bump in the road: a delay.

DC has informed retailers that Lobo #1 is being delayed; two weeks to be exact, moving from the originally planned March 4 release to March 18. No reason has been given for DC for the delay (the company often avoids this), but it could be telling that the company is also giving retailers extra time to put in their pre-orders for the issue. The pre-order deadline for retailers is now February 23.

While it could be as simple as the creators of Lobo need some additional time to make that first issue as great as they want it to be, it's possible DC is delaying it to give time for something else to happen. I'm not going to speculate it's DC Studios co-boss James Gunn exerting some synergistic tie-in with the Supergirl movie; instead, consider that DC might be delaying it so retailers (and by extension, fans) can pre-order knowing something they wouldn't know by the time of the original pre-order deadline.

While it might seem illogical, it would be far from the first time it has been done. But among the likely scenarios behind this two-week delay, assuming the creators are late might be too easy a guess.

Lobo #1 is now set to go on sale March 18.
