Marvel officially confirms continuation of The Infernal Hulk storyline with Hulk War: Infernal Rage

Hulk War: Infernal Rage, by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Nic Klein, is the third act in the story begun in Johnson/Klein's Incredible Hulk run from 2023

You may recall Popverse's coverage of the reported cancellation of Marvel's massively popular horror hit, The Infernal Hulk. "Cancellation," we learned, isn't exactly the term for what was happening: creatives Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Nic Klein claimed that though The Infernal Hulk was ending after 10 issues, the story they started in 2023's The Incredible Hulk would continue into its third act. Now, we know what that third act is.

Announced February 18 at ComicsPRO 2026, Hulk War: Infernal Rage sees both Johnson and Klein moving forward with their not-so-jolly green giant saga, with the former on scripts and the latter on pencils. Plot details are scant at the moment, but we do know that Hulk War: Infernal Rage will begin in January of 2027, after what Marvel called a "four-issue bridge" following the wrap-up of The Infernal Hulk #10, which is estimated (but not confirmed) to come out in July of this year.

Fortunately, though, fans will get something of a glimpse into Hulk's future without waiting quite that long. Also announced at ComicsPRO was the involvement of a Hulk War: Infernal Rage story taking place in the pages of one of Marvel's Comics Giveaway Day books - specifically, The Amazing Spider-Man 1000/Queen in Black #1 title. A free comics event through Penguin Random House, CGD 2026 happens this May 2.

Until then, we're all just going to have to wait and theorize about what's in store for Marvel's Most Misunderstood Monster. Although if he's going to be continuing this whole "trips to the underworld" theme that The Immortal Hulk kicked off, it sure would be cool to see more interactions between him and a certain devilish villain - maybe one recently added to the MCU?

Hulk War: Infernal Rage comes to comic stores January 2027.
