A former Batman editor is back in the crime genre, for revenge. Not for him, but for his characters of course.

Editor-turned writer Dave Wielgosz (Batman: Man-Bat; TMNT: Mutant Nation) has partnered with artist Tadd Galusha (Godzilla: Unnatural Disasters) in a new series called Showdown which was just announced here at the ComicsPRO Industry Conference.

Announced from its publisher Ignition Press, Showdown balances the weight of family and the weight of revenge, and finds its not always an equal balance.

"Some things you just can’t get over. When Trish Sullivan left her hometown for college, she left behind unfinished business. Now she’s back and looking to settle up," reads Ignition Press' description of the book. "Trish blames Harvey Harlowe for the death of her little brother, so Trish’s homecoming is an eye-for-an-eye mission. She’s going to kill him, and Harvey should get his affairs in order. But Harvey’s dad has just died, and an injury destroyed his football scholarship. Without a future ahead of him, Trish’s challenge is all the more welcome. He’s more than ready to go down fighting, and no one is going to step in and save him."

This grounded pulp drama is evocative of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips' Criminal, and comes with covers from one of modern comics' great artist, Steve Lieber. Check them out here:

Showdown #1 (of 5) goes on sale on May 13.

About ComicsPRO Industry Conference
