Comic art collector offers $20K reward for stolen Spider-Man art by co-creator Steve Ditko

The Ditko splash page, which was drawn for The Amazing Spider-Man #27, is part of the Albert Moy Collectables Original Art. Now, Moy himself is offering cash for a no-questions-asked return of the work

"Bring Back My Goblin to Me" - it's the dynamic title that sits atop the first page of Steve Ditko/Stan Lee's Amazing Spider-Man #27, and now, it's also the plea from comic art collector Albert Moy. That's because Moy, who has made a career gathering rare, original art from comic book legends, has reported the classic Ditko art of the same page stolen from his wide-ranging collection. And in order to get it back, Moy is offering a tantalizing reward.

The story comes from comic news outlet Down the Tubes, in an article published August 15. According to DtT, Moy is offering a whopping $20K for the safe return of his stolen Ditko artwork, with no questions asked of the returner. Anyone reading this article who may be able to return the artwork can contact Moy's lawyer at [email protected] or by phone at +1 (709) 343-5680. And just in case you've seen the piece around but haven't connected it to this story yet, here's an image of the stolen page below, courtesy of Moy's website.

You'd be right to suppose that Moy is hardly new to comic book art collecting, and you'd even be correct to guess that he's not new to art theft. As Down the Tubes also reports in the article linked above, Moy suffered a similar bit of larceny in 2007, when 11 pieces of rare comic art were lifted from his collection at C2E2 that year. Of those 11 pieces, 10 have been safely returned.

Once again, anyone with information pertaining to this theft can contact Moy's attorney for a discreet exchange at [email protected] or +1 (709) 343-5680. If that $20K isn't enough to sway you, I'd kindly remind anyone reading this of the whole "great responsibility" thing.
