One of the most iconic Superman villains is returning to DC comics as the focus of his own upcoming crossover event. The Kingdom of Zod storyline will launch this August and features a team-up of multiple members of the Superman family to overcome the invasion by General Zod. Supergirl, Superboys, and a freshly returned Superman are the only hope the DC Universe has against this new threat.

The first issue of this new crossover event will be Supergirl #16, which hits shelves on August 12. Supergirl assembles a team consisting of Superboy-Prime, Connor Kent, Tomorrow Man, Steel, and more to infiltrate the Kryptonite Kingdom of El Caldero. Meanwhile, Action Comics #1101 features Superman arriving back in the present day and getting immediately drawn into the conflict.

DC has confirmed that Joshua Williamson, Sophie Campbell, Mark Waid, and Dan Slott will be writing the Kingdom of Zod storyline, while Eddy Barrows, Joe Quinones, Montos, and Rachael Stott will be the artists. 
How exactly has General Zod returned to Earth, and what are his plans? That’s something we won’t find out until DC’s Kingdom of Zod event continues. The crossover event will run through Supergirl, Action Comics, Superman Unlimited, and Superman comic books between August and September 2026. It all concludes in a one-shot Superman: Kingdom of Zod Special on September 30.
