During New York Comic Con 2025, legendary comics writer Tom King had the chance to sit down in the Pop Spot with Popverse’s Ashely V. Robinson. During the in-depth conversation, King and Robinson had the chance to discuss a plethora of topics. These included which DC superheroes King most hopes to get the chance to work on in the future.
The topic came up thanks to a question asked by Robinson. “You’ve been in Camp Wonder Woman for a while now,” she said. “Are there any DC characters that you’d like to revisit — maybe the New Gods, they’re so great — or are you just looking to what’s the next new thing I’m going to take on? Who’s the next new character? What’s the next new property? Are you more interested in forwards or backwards?”
“I mean, both things are true,” King answered. He noted that he’s currently working on the Mister Miracle animated series, and thus still putting in work on the New Gods. And in fact, he even penned a New Gods movie several years ago.
“It’s almost never mattered to me what characters,” King said. “I like doing small, I like doing big. What I most like is finding a partner, like I did on Wonder Woman with Daniel Sampere, or on Trinity with Belén Ortega. It’s more important to me the people I’m working with than the character I’m working on.”
