DC's top artist Dan Mora is suddenly a free agent, and is giving Hasbro's Transformers "a whole new era" with The Walking Dead writer Robert Kirkman
Mora meets the eye. (Sorry, it's difficult to work Robert Kirkman's name into a Transformers pun.)

- The MCU Ironheart TV series makes the case for why killing Tony Stark in Avengers: Endgame was the smartest thing the Marvel Studios has ever done
- The found-footage subgenre finds new bite as a trend in horror lit with Paul Tremblay's Horror Movie and Richard Chizmar's Memorials
- Ripped from the pages of John Wick, James Gunn's Superman appears to center on the kidnapping of the Man of Steel's dog (and I love it)
Having created some of the most awe-inspiring DC Comics images of this decade, artist Dan Mora is headed to Hasbro & Skybound's Energon universe, where he'll be taking over as artist of the Transformers series with Issue #25. Joining him as writer on the series will be none other than Image staple Robert Kirkman, reports Skybound in an announcement June 26.
Mora has been the artist on one of DC's most popular titles, World's Finest, since the series launched in 2022 (and for the real ones out there, he was also the artist behind the Grant Morrison Santa Claus origin story, Klaus). Robert Kirkman, along with having created both The Walking Dead and Invincible franchises, is the Chairman of Skybound Entertainment.
"I’ve been a huge TRANSFORMERS fan ever since I can remember," said Mora in a statement, "So it’s been a real thrill to come aboard the series with the equally thrilling Robert Kirkman [...] I’ve also been a huge fan of [previous creative team] Daniel Warren Johnson and Jorge Corona, and what they’ve done on this title has literally been out of this world. Drawing my favorite Autobots and Decepticons brings me back to all of the fun I had playing with them as a kid, so I hope to add my own spark to their legacy and can’t wait for fans to see what Robert and I have been toying with for the Energon Universe next!"
Mike Spicer, who has been on the recent Transformers relaunch since issue #1, will stay on to continue coloring the series.
Transformers #25 comes to comic shelves everywhere October 8, 2025. In the meantime, get a look at some of the issue's variant covers by the artists listed below, as well as the blank Autobot/Decepticons covers and the first three (unlettered) pages of Mora's art in the series:
