Marvel quietly delays Ultimate Endgame, pushing back the end of the Ultimate line

The end of Ultimate Marvel is coming... just a little later than planned.

The Popverse coverage of the ComicsPRO Annual Meeting 2026 is brought to you by Lunar Distribution. Commited to Retailers. Focused on the Future of Comics.

Marvel Comics announced several things here at the ComicsPRO Industry Conference 2026, but one of the things that slipped by everyone (and me!) until I read the transcripts is the non-announcement - let's call it an advisory, rather - that the impending end of the Ultimate Marvel line has been delayed.

During a rapid volley of announcements, Marvel's senior VP of sales & marketing David Gabriel mentioned in passing that the Ultimate Endgame five-issue series had moved "maybe into May, maybe into June." This is important to readers of the series, but it's also important because a source had previously told The Hollywood Reporter (and their team have a high accuracy rate) that December's Ultimate Endgame #1 was projected to be the company's best-selling comic book in "years" (plural).

For context, less than two years ago Ultimate Spider-Man #1 sold over 450,000 copies across seven printings (and not counting digital sales), according to our own sources.

Looking deeper, Popverse has uncovered that the Ultimate Endgame delays begin with the next issue. Ultimate Endgame #3 has slid back two weeks to March 25, with a cascading effect resulting in Ultimate Endgame #4 moving back to April 22 (a 4-week delay), and then Ultimate Endgame #5 landing six weeks later than planned, on June 3.

It's likely the end of Ultimate Marvel will be delayed further, simply by the fact that there's a one-shot after Ultimate Endgame called Ultimate Universe: Finale #1. Announced to have a story that picks up after Ultimate Endgame #5, it hasn't been delayed yet according to the distributor — although I assume it will be pushed back from April 29 to June 3 at the least.

Popverse has reached out to Marvel for comment.

About ComicsPRO Industry Conference

Every year, the giants of the North American comic industry congregate behind closed doors for a closed-door conference to talk about the changing landscape of comics, what they've learned, and what they are all planning to do in the future. It's not a comic convention for fans, though - it's in a B2B event called the ComicsPRO Annual Meeting, and this year Popverse is going there to bring it all to you. At the 2026 Comics PRO Annual Meeting, Popverse will be covering the announcements, the conversations, and the insight from the likes of Marvel Comics, DC Comics, VIZ Media, Yen Press, Image Comics, Skybound Entertainment, and more.
