Kimetsu no Yaiba fans, get excited: although an exact date has yet to be announced, all signs are pointing to the fact that it’s looking very likely that the fourth season of the hit anime is just weeks away as you read this… and there’s a movie to let you get started on it early, too.
The 2024 Promotion Reel released at the end of December 2023 came with new information on the upcoming season 4 opening storyline 'Hashira Training Arc' and plans for a special theatrical release, titled Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: To the Hashira Training, that will serve as a bridge into the long-awaited 'Hashira Training Arc' by mixing together episode 11 of the 'Swordsmith Village Arc' and episode 1 of the season in 4K and IMAX. Watch the full promotion reel below to absorb all the excitement:
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba 'Hashira Training Arc' was promised to begin broadcasting on Fuji TV beginning in spring 2024, with the first episode a one-hour special, so this means the 'To the Hashira Training' movie is a good opportunity to watch the beginning ahead of the TV premiere. As always, expect both the 'movie' and new episodes to hit Crunchyroll for fans outside Japan almost immediately after their Japanese debut.
While the official debut of season 4 has yet to be announced — season 3 debuted in April 2023, if that offers any potential guide — we do know when Demon Slayer: Kimtesu no Yaiba: To the Hashira Training will debut around the world, with US readers able to buy tickets on Fandango or Atom Tickets.
If you aren't familiar with the manga nor the anime, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is described as follows:
It is the Taisho Period in Japan.
Tanjiro, a kindhearted boy who sells charcoal for a living, finds his family slaughtered by a demon. To make matters worse, his younger sister Nezuko, the sole survivor, has been transformed into a demon herself.
Though devastated by this grim reality, Tanjiro resolves to become a 'demon slayer' so that he can turn his sister back into a human, and kill the demon that massacred his family.
Slay on, Demon Slayer. As we prep for new installments of the Demon Slayer anime, here's a survival kit to help you. First, a guide to all the major Demon Slayer characters. Second, recommendations for how (and where) to watch all of Demon Slayer. Third, context of why Demon Slayer is so popular. Fourth, when we think Demon Slayer season 4 is coming out. And also, how Demon Slayer ends (at least in the manga).
And as a bonus, you can watch the full NYCC Demon Slayer panel with the voice cast.
