The Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy sets don't come out for a few weeks yet, but here at PAX East 2025 in Boston, I managed to get my first piece of the MTG x FF set with a surprise find at the official Wizards of the Coast booth.

Chocobo, Awakened Inferno is a new in-game item for the Magic: The Arena digital game that Wizards of the Coast is giving away exclusively at this weekend's PAX East 2025. The life-size (or is it Chocobo-sized) Chandra Chocobo is at the MTG booth (#16031) on the showfloor, as well as a second one at the Magic Play HQ in Hall C.

If you come to one of these locations during PAX East and scan the QR code that nearby staff have available, it will unlock a new 'Active Event' that will result in you getting exclusive Chocobo, Awakened Inferno sleeves to use in MTG Arena.

We are livestreaming highlights from PAX East 2025 all weekend, including the Magic: The Gathering- Final Fantasy Debut Showcase' Saturday, May 10, beginning at 12pm ET

Magic: The Gathering - Final Fantasy for MTG Arena will be available for Arena pre-order on May 10, with the physical cards (and decks) having a global in-store pre-release on June 6. The general global release of MTG - Final Fantasy will follow on June 10.

Magic: The Gathering looks set to escape a tariff price hike, says Wizards of the Coast parent company Hasbro.
