Spoilers for Critical Role Campaign 4 follow. 

For all the spellcasting and sword-slashing, Critical Role is very much a show about relationships. Campaign 4 is no exception to this rule, with dynamics like Tyranny and Wicander Halovar bringing humor and heart to every episode in which they appear together. One relationship that we still don't quiet understand, though, is the one between Taliesin Jaffe's Bolaire Lathalia and Ashley Johnson's Vaelus. And while Jaffe himself promises we will understand in the fullness of time, right now, he's just enjoying having a little secret.

The subject came up during an interview Jaffe had with Temple of Geek's Caitlin Tyrrell, alongside fellow Critical Role star (and Schemer, if you've been following Campaign 4) Luis Carazo. At one point in the discussion, the subject of Bolaire's relationship with the other Aramánian PCs came up, and the Mighty Nein voice actor decided to deviously tease something special about his relationship with Johnson's "nun assassin."

"Bolaire and Vaelus clearly already knew each other," Jaffe said with a devious smile, "So there's that."

"What the hell is that about?" asked Carazo, who seemed genuinely in the dark.

"I know," answered Jaffe, not uninfuriatingly.

As the conversation went on, Jeff dove into another interesting, and definitely more fleshed out, relationship between his sentient mask character and another - that is, the dearly departed Thjazi Fang.

"Bolaire is, on a certain level, extremely self-centered," Jaffe explained, "There's a part of him that is very, very aware of how this plan that Thjazi put in motion really fucked him specifically, and really could have been done in a much kinder way to his situation, and wasn't ever going to be. There will come a point where we get into just how terribly uh, Thjazi treated Bolaire, but it was enough for a good giggle at that man's funeral. Yeah. That was well earned, and we will get into that."

We can't wait to hear about it, Taliesin. We can't wait to hear about all of it.
