Critical Role has listened to your request, Daggerheart players: A GM fear tracker is coming in 2026
Keeping track of your players' Fear is going to get a lot easier if you're a Daggerheart GM, and it's all thanks to the fans who have been bugging Critical Role's Darrington Press about a special GM screen

Sure, they may be one of the powerhouses of TTRPG entertainment - but don't ever get to thinking Critical Role's Darrington Press doesn't listen to the little guy. Case in point - PAX Unplugged 2025. Amongst a barrage of announcements from key folks at the company like Matt Mercer, Spenser Starke, Rowan Hall, Elise Rezendes, and Jeremy Crawford, the assembled crew took time to reveal that the company would be producing one of the most sought-after items among the online Daggerheart community: A GM screen.
But not just any GM screen, Popverse reader. A GM screen with a custom Fear tracker.
"There are some game tools that are foundational, needed, important," began Elise Rezendes, senior producer on Daggerheart. "We're very excited. Coming next year, we're going to be launching a standalone GM screen with Fear trackers."
In case you don't know what we mean here - Daggerheart works by players rolling two d12. With one die, they get a Hope number, which they can use to succeed at tasks. With the other, the GM gets a Fear number, which they can use to make things more difficult. So as you can imagine, a big part of being a Daggerheart GM is keeping track of how much Fear your players have rolled.
And now, the designers are meeting that need.
"After the announcements that came earlier and yesterday," continued Rezendes, "A lot of you saw the deluxe edition were like - 'All I want is a GM screen!' Now you can have it. [...] We have little slices in it with rhombic, d12 shapes. They sit on top of the GM screen and slide back and forth like an abacus. It's a tool that's coming next year and we're very excited."
At this point, fellow Daggerheart designer piped in.
"Could someone tell the Reddit right now?" she said.
We'll let you decide whether that sounds like fans were a little too vocal with their request.
With two animated series on Prime Video, Campaign 4 in full swing, and so much more Exandrian lore to come, Critical Role is showing no signs of slowing down. That's why the adventuring party at Popverse are here to bring you everything we can from those nerdy-ass voice actors & Bo., including:
- How to watch Critical Role in order
- Travis Willingham on the differences between The Legend of Vox Machina and The Mighty Nein
- Taliesin Jaffe on playing Mollymauk Tealeaf for Campaign 2 vs. playing him for Prime Video
- Matt Mercer's homebrew warrior class (created originally for Vin Diesel)
...and much, much more. Roll initiative, player. Magic awaits.
