The idea of a live-action Critical Role has been a hot topic of conversation in Critter circles even before its animated adaptations hit Prime Video. With Campaigns 1 and 2 already firmly in cartoon territory, though, those hypothetical questions are now focused on 3 and the currently-running Campaign 4. That said, when it comes to at least one CR cast member, the hope is to stick with animation if-and-when Aramán makes its screen debut.

And Laura Bailey isn't shy about saying why.

The subject came up at Anime Frontier 2025, where Bailey was joined by Campaign 4 costars (and OG Rolers) Ashley Johnson, Travis Willingham, Liam O'Brien, Sam Riegel, and Taliesin Jaffe. Part of the panel was dedicated to fan Q&As, which is when an attending Critter asked the whole cast whether they'd like to see Campaign 4 adapted to live-action or animation. It was Dispatch star Bailey who answered first.

"I am incredibly selfish," The Mighty Nein voice actor said, "And I always want to play my own characters. If it was live action, there's a much smaller chance that any of us could do that. So, I'd want it to be animated."

First of all, I wouldn't consider wanting to keep playing the character you invented over literally hundreds of hours of gameplay "selfish," but I do want to point out here that Bailey actually has played at least one of her characters live before. If you'll recall, in October of last year, Bailey appeared in full makeup and prosthetics as Jester Lavorre for her wedding to Fjord Stone, which was held in NYC's Radio City Music Hall.

Far be it from me to assume that something like that could happen again on the big screen - I am no film producer, reader - but I do know that if Bailey did want to turn up as her own character in a live-action adaptation of Campaign 4, the fans at least would be in the seats to support her.

Now, how the producers would handle the fact that she'd be playing a pixie only 4 inches tall is another matter. Maybe they could do that perspective thing Peter Jackson did in The Lord of the Rings?
