A Fantasy High lead will die in Dimension 20's Hollywood Bowl show, says DM Brennan Lee Mulligan
It's the Battle at the Bowl, the Rumble in the Chungle, and by the end of the live show, one of the Fantasy High characters that Dimension 20 fans have fallen in love with will no longer be with us

Dimension 20 fans, prepare for a funeral. The upcoming live show of one of the world's most popular actual play D&D series is going to have serious consequences for its longest running continuing story, and thanks to a recent interview with DM, comedian, and cruel master of fate Brennan Lee Mulligan, we have a 50/50 chance of knowing which character it will be.
In case you don't know, Dimension 20 is the long-running actual play series currently streaming on Dropout, in which a host of comedians, actors like Anjali Bhimani, and TTRPG celebs like Matthew Mercer gather together to stretch the bounds of tabletop fantasy. Over their seven years in existence, the show has headlined several blockbuster live events, including a historic sold-out show at Madison Square Garden. Now, they're headed to LA's historic Hollywood Bowl, but not before DM and game lead Brennan Lee Mulligan sat down for a tell-all interview with Popverse.
And when asked about what fans can expect from the upcoming, epic event, Brennan was more than direct fans can expect to see a long-running character die.
"Well, listen," Brennan explained, "We've been very clear: this is Battle at the Bowl. This is Rumble in the Chungle, okay? And this is a canon event. One of those two characters will die, and it will be canon in the show."
Wait - one of which two characters? The Hollywood Bowl show will bring players and audiences back to the world of Fantasy High, the universe created in Dimension 20's very first campaign in 2018 and featured in two more campaigns (Sophomore Year and Junior Year), plus a previous live show in Dublin. Throughout all of those many adventures, fans have fallen in love with both lovable badass Fabian Seacaster (played by comedian Lou Wilson) and the silly-and-sinister antagonist, Chungledown Bim, voiced by Brennan. And it will be one of these two, beloved icons of fantasy roleplay, who will be leaving us.
"It's very exciting," Brennan continues, "To go to a place as historic as The Hollywood Bowl. [There are] thousands of people in attendance to watch one of the show's most beloved characters fight a gnome with a beard made of mustaches and pockets full of spaghetti. A character that was made up on the spot, that should never have mattered. It's wild. So I think what we can expect is: we are going to have a fucking ball."
Popverse members can read our interview with Brennan Lee Mulligan in full right here. And if you've already done that, we'd also highly recommend checking out Brennan's Worlds Beyond Number podcast, which the DM and comedian calls "an ultra-high fantasy, gorgeously sound-designed and scored epic adventure" that "fans of my work owe it to themselves to check out." Dimension 20's (sold out!) Hollywood Bowl show goes down live on June 1, but will stream on Dropout later this year.
