Dispatch fans have uncovered the secret stat that determines Invisigal's ending in Episode 8

The hit game from AdHoc Studio and Critical Role is full of important choices, but not everything that influences the ending happens during cutscenes in Dispatch.

Not sure why you got a particular ending in Dispatch? You’re not alone. There are countless small calculations happening in the background that determine how Robert and the Z-Team end up. One particular character, Invisigal, has a fairly monumental choice at the end, but what she decides isn’t just down to what you say. If you’ve gotten to the last episode of Dispatch and aren’t sure what you’ve done to make Invisigal so angry, some folks on Reddit might have the solution for you.

We’re going to go into some spoilers for the ending of Dispatch, so be warned.

Most of the scenes at the end of Dispatch have a pretty obvious cause and effect. You cut Sonar, so he is fighting you instead of Coope. You choose to recruit either Water Boy or Phenomeman to your team earlier on, which impacts how powerful the other character is when they join you in Episode 8. However, the final scene with Invisigal isn’t quite so clear-cut. Whether she embraces her heroic nature or becomes a full-on villain isn’t down to just one choice but to something in the game’s code called the RobertMentorCounter (or RMC, for short).

Each time you choose to nurture Invisigal, the RMC goes up. As a group of Redditors discovered, you need to reach a certain threshold to turn her away from villainy and have her become a full hero at the end. You need to reach an RMC of 45 or higher, which you can’t do through story choices alone. You need to send Visi on successful Dispatch missions during your shifts to raise that total further. Each successful mission raises the RMC by one. Each failure lowers it by one. Sending her to training with Blond Blazer gives you a total of five extra RMC points.

So if you’re worried about Invisigal not turning out to be the hero you hoped she would be, you'd better make sure that you use her skills out in the field. Otherwise, your Dispatch ending might not be quite what you hoped.
