Elder Scrolls 6? No. God of War: Egypt? Nah. Diablo 4? Nope. So what Game Awards announcement is Geoff Keighley actually teasing?
Doom DLC, Devil May Cry 6, and even Half Life 3 are all being touted as answers to this bizarre riddle Geoff Keighley has posted.

Geoff Keighley has a very specific set of skills, and they are all designed to drum up hype. Ahead of the annual The Game Awards, Keighley has once again found a way to wind up gamers – by dropping what seems to be a hint about an upcoming reveal at The Game Awards. But it is apparently not about any of the long-awaited games you’re thinking of. Not Elder Scrolls 6 or God of War or Diablo. So, what is Geoff Keighley hinting at?
Last week, Geoff Keighley posted a rather demonic-looking image to his social media. It depicted a group of characters seemingly melded together in a desert monolith, potentially forming one side of a gate. The only hint about what the image is comes from Keighley’s post, which simply reads “regal.inspiring.thickness” with no additional context.
Fans being fans immediately assumed it was a Diablo 4 expansion. I mean, the image does look demonic and Diablo is very demonic in its nature, right? Not so, said Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier on ResetEra. Schreier didn’t elaborate on what the image is – only what it isn’t. “I don’t plan on reporting what it is, sorry, but it’s a good one,” he wrote.
The next guess was The Elder Scrolls 6, which Bethesda has been teasing us with for years now. Schreier jumped in to say that no, it isn’t that either. So maybe it is God of War? That looks like a desert background, and Egypt is a famously desert nation. We got a pretty good hint this year that the next God of War game will tackle Egyptian mythology. However, God of War development chief Cory Barlog showed up in a YouTuber’s stream specifically to debunk that rumor.
So we have a lot of reports about what the mysterious Geoff Keighley image isn’t, but we still aren’t any closer to uncovering what it is. What is the big reveal at The Game Awards going to be? Doom, perhaps? A set of DLC for Doom: The Dark Ages would be welcomed by many fans. Bethesda already gave us an Elder Scrolls: Oblivion remake this year, so it isn’t that. Devil May Cry just got a very good animated series – maybe Capcom is dipping back into that well.
The truth is that Keighley is doing what he does best: building hype around his events. We won’t know the truth until December 11, 2025 when The Game Awards airs and puts us all out of our misery.
