The GTA 6 release date for its price & pre-orders is bigger news than most anything this week

There are few questions that have loomed over the gaming industry in recent years more than when Grand Theft Auto 6 would be coming out. We have a pretty good idea of that now, but one uncertainty remains: how much will GTA 6 cost? It remains one of the most anticipated video game releases of all time, so Rockstar has no reason not to pump up the price. Well, we’re going to find out soon, as pre-orders for GTA 6 are about to go live.
Last week, Rockstar confirmed that pre-orders for GTA 6 will go live on June 25, 2026. This coincides with what Take Two’s CEO said a few weeks ago about when marketing for the game kicks off at the start of summer. However, this isn’t just further confirmation that November 19, 2026 is, indeed, the release date for Grand Theft Auto 6; it will also be when we find out its price at launch.
Rumors, often fuelled by fear among gamers who are already feeling the pinch from inflation and other cost of living issues, have swirled for months that the game will be over $100 at launch. This would put it above the majority of current generation games and potentially open the floodgates toward other developers putting their own highly-anticipated games at a similar price point.
When pre-orders for GTA 6 go live on June 25, 2026, we’ll all find out exactly how much Rockstar thinks fans are willing to pay for the biggest game of the year. With the hype around this game already at a fever-pitch before marketing kicks in, we expect that they could charge whatever they want and people will pay it.
