If you ask a Hollow Knight fan how long they’ve been waiting for Silksong to come out, they’re most likely to answer with a simple “too bloody long.” Which is fair; it feels like the sequel to 2017’s Hollow Knight has been promised and teased for years now. Well, the wait is almost over, as Team Cherry has finally confirmed the Hollow Knight: Silksong release date.

After going from being DLC for the original Hollow Knight, Silksong was announced as a full sequel all the way back in 2019. Since then, fans have been teased with new footage and screenshots without ever getting to play the game. That will change soon as Hollow Knight: Silksong will release on September 4, 2025.

We first found out that Silksong would be released in 2025 during the April 2, 2025 Nintendo Direct that confirmed a host of new games coming to the Switch 2 alongside the console’s new features. It wasn’t until late August that fans were able to finally play the demo for the long-awaited sequel at Gamescom. Finally, during a special announcement on August 21, Team Cherry finally confirmed the official release date for Hollow Knight: Silksong, to the great joy of the long-suffering fanbase.

Early reports confirm that Silksong does, indeed, live up to expectations, with great platforming and combat that live up to the hype. We can’t wait to get our hands on what has to be one of the most hyped releases of 2025.

Hollow Knight: Silksong will be released on September 4, 2025.
