At this point, the Final Fantasy franchise is a sprawling universe full of memorable characters, epic battles, and best of all, unforgettable meme-worthy moments. Case in point: the laughing scene from Final Fantasy X.
In case you aren't familiar, in Final Fantasy X, protagonist Tidus burst out in a fit of forced laughter after learning that the villain of the game he's been hunting all along is actually his father! He had been moping before (understandable, I'd be sad too) before he was urged by Yuna to pretend to be happy. The scene has since been taken out of context, like all great memes, distilled to its humorous elements. Here's the original clip below.
Now, this moment in Final Fantasy history is immortalized within the form of a Magic: The Gathering card, Inspiring Call. Inspiring Call is an Instant featuring artwork by artist Francesca Resta, showing Tidus and Yuna laughing together. Of course, text at the bottom of the card hammers it home with "Hahahahaha!" Take a gander here.

At PAX East at the Magic: The Gathering x Final Fantasy panel, the development team shared that they wanted the set to include essential elements from the Final Fantasy games alongside a smattering of nods to more obscure moments. Obviously, Tidus's laughter is part of the essential category. To be clear, I'm being sarcastic, don't come for me here, people. Still, it's delightful that beloved moments from the Final Fantasy games still made it into the MTG set.
The Final Fantasy Magic: The Gathering set hits shops on June 13. I don't know about you, but I will be laughing my way to my local game shop on that day.
