This iconic Marvel & DC artist now has the title of "longest gap in a Magic: The Gathering artist's career", but we can still call him Bill Sienkiewicz
Bill Sienkiewicz hasn’t drawn a Magic: The Gathering card since 1996, and he’s back with a card for Marvel’s Spider-Man crossover set

I don’t think I’m being hyperbolic when I say that Bill Sienkiewicz is one of the GOATs for comic book art. His work on series like New Mutants, Elektra, and Moon Knight established him as one of the most singular artistic voices in American comics. And what would be a Magic: The Gathering crossover with Marvel’s Spider-Man without involvement from Sienkiewicz?
Luckily for all of us, Sienkiewicz has contributed artwork for the crossover set. And this isn’t the first time that Sienkiewicz has drawn cards for Magic:The Gathering, either. Way back in 1996, Sienkiewicz drew the art for cards like Soldevi Steam Beast and Phyrexian War Beast. Considering that the Marvel’s Spider-Man set from Magic: The Gathering is coming out this September, it has been quite some time since Sienkiewicz was last drawing cards for Wizards of the Coast. In fact, It’s been so long that the vice president of design at Magic: The Gathering, Aaron Forsythe, said that Sienkiewicz holds the title for “longest gap in a Magic: The Gathering artist's career” at San Diego Comic-Con 2025. Take a look at Sienkiewicz’s card below.

Sienkiewicz is not the only comic book artist brought on for the Spider-Man set. Jim Cheung and Jay-David Ramos have also drawn cards for the crossover. And the set also has transformed iconic Spider-Man covers drawn by Steve Ditko and Sara Pichelli into Magic: The Gathering cards. A bit of trans-media synergy happening here.
Magic: The Gathering x Marvel’s Spider-Man will be released on September 26, 2025.
