Metal Gear Solid Delta sees its multiplayer mode delayed until Fall 2025 as Konami pushes to get the game ready for August launch

We're disappointed that Fox Hunt has been delayed, but hopefully it will lead to a better Metal Gear Solid remake at launch

We’re fully prepared to dive into the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake at the end of August, but Konami has just confirmed that the whole experience we were promised won’t be available to play at launch. In addition to a remake of the single-player game and a Snake vs. Monkey mode, a multiplayer mode called Fox Hunt was originally announced as being part of the experience. However, it looks like fans will have to wait to play Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater’s multiplayer mode until at least a few weeks after launch, and it has us worried about the rest of the game’s status.

The highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake is set to launch on August 28, 2025, but in a post on social media, Konami confirmed that Fox Hunt, the multiplayer mode that appears to pit two teams against each other, won’t be available to play until “Fall 2025.” This is a relatively last-minute change to the overall game and could be a sign that they are shifting people away from Fox Hunt’s development and onto overall bug fixes.

We wouldn’t be so upset if the overall concept of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater wasn’t so interesting. With one team hiding and infiltrating a facility and another focused on hunting them down, it feels perfectly in keeping with the Metal Gear Solid spirit and could be something we sink dozens of hours into. It is definitely the right move to delay the multiplayer mode to get the single-player portion of the game ready to ship on time, but we’re wondering why Konami waited so long to make the decision.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, minus the multiplayer mode, will launch on August 28, 2025, with Fox Hunt being added sometime in the Fall.
