Gotta go fast to catch those pesky ghosts.

Two of the most iconic video game characters of all time are coming together as Sonic the Hedgehog spins, dashes, and runs his way into PAC-MAN WORLD 2 Re-PAC as a post-launch DLC. Coming in Winter 2025, this crossover adds a new level modelled after the most famous Sonic the Hedgehog level, Green Hill Zone. Thankfully not as part of the Shadow Labyrinth world.

Bandai Namco has confirmed that Sonic the Hedgehog is coming to PAC-MAN WORLD 2 Re-PAC with a new level called Rolling Around on the Island. In this new level, PAC-MAN will explore a “vibrant, tropical landscape and reimagined checkerboard-patterned ground and cliffs” designed to recreate the iconic Green Hill Zone from the original Sonic the Hedgehog game. The DLC, which doesn’t have a firm release date but is confirmed for Winter 2025.

Along with looking like the first time we were introduced to Sonic’s world, this new level in PAC-MAN WORLD 2 Re-PAC also brings core Sonic mechanics like loop-de-loops, springs, and dash rings to the game. It will also include a new skin for PAC-MAN that gives him blue spikes and red shoes, just like Sonic the Hedgehog.
Something that isn’t mentioned in the press release is whether the DLC will include a new version of Green Hill Zone’s theme song. We don’t want to tell Bandai Namco how to do their job, but a mashup of the original PAC-MAN theme with Green Hill Zone would absolutely sell this DLC to us. That is the crossover we didn't know we've been waiting for all our lives.

PAC-MAN WORLD 2 Re-PAC, a remake of the original game from 2002, will be released on September 26, 2025.
