Blumhouse Games are "definitely" open to making games based on the studio's movies - and vice versa

Five Nights at Freddy's already shows the crossover appeal is there, so why not try to bring more Blumhouse movies to video games?

You probably know Blumhouse as the studio that champions horror films, but in 2023, they expanded their reach into the world of games. Blumhouse Games is championing horror in its own way, finding the best that the indie horror games space has to offer and helping it shine. While the two areas are still separate, that doesn’t mean we won’t see a Blumhouse movie based on a game they’ve published or a game based on a movie Blumhouse has made. It just depends on whether the right project came along.

We spoke to Louise Blain, Creative Director of Blumhouse Games, at the publisher’s booth at PAX East 2026, and we couldn’t help but find out if there was a world where we could see Blumhouse Games turn to the impressive catalogue of movies the studio has made over the years.

“There is definitely that world, you know,” Louise Blain told us. “I think that’s what, while we have started with indie [games], we have never said never in making games of our movies. These are movies that people absolutely love, and I think that would be, you know, we’d want to make the game versions of those movies that we’d want to play.”

Blain specifically cited adaptations like The Last of Us and Fallout as examples of some of the great video game adaptations that have been coming out over the years. “So absolutely we would. We are always looking for the perfect way to explore in an interesting, cool, creative indie Blumhouse Games way.”

It is worth noting that Blain gave no indication that any video game adaptation of a Blumhouse movie was in the works. Other than maybe Five Nights at Freddy’s, but that’s a very different situation, obviously.
