When the mysterious organization Fata Morgana arrives, wielding superweapons of untold power, it is up to a handful of sky-riding knights to stop them from taking over the world Sonic Wings Reunion is a sequel to the 1994 arcade-style shooter Sonic Wings and promises to give a modern take on the original’s classic gameplay. Sonic Wings Reunion is coming this May, so get ready to strap in and take to the skies once again.

Sonic Wings Reunion seems focused on capturing the nostalgia fans have for a good arcade shooter. The last game in the series was 1997’s Sonic Wings Assault for the Nintendo 64, so it has been a long time since we’ve been able to save the world in this classic Shoot ‘em Up series. Sonic Wings Reunion will be released on May 29, 2025.

Unlike Sonic Wings Assault, this game appears to be a return to the series’ original formula. Players start out controlling one of eight different pilots from around the world, with more being unlocked as you advance the story. Depending on which character you take into battle, new scenarios or dialogue options will pop up, giving the game more replayability than its eight initial stages seem to imply. No matter which pilot you choose, you will find yourself surrounded by waves of enemies and having to dodge incoming fire to survive long enough to save the world.

Sonic Wings Reunion will be released on May 29, 2025 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

You don't need to beat the game to prepare for the next one—here are all the major new and upcoming games coming our way.
