How many seasons of Critical Role's The Mighty Nein will be on Prime Video? Sam Riegel says the team "could tell a story" in 5, but wants to do around 7
Despite the pun, says Critical Role's Riegel in a joint interview with Mighty Nein showrunner Tasha Huo, "nine seems excessive."

'How many seasons will Critical Role's The Mighty Nein run for?'
That's a question to which no one has the answer at the moment. However, that didn't stop two of the most important creators on the series from speculating about it. Specifically, those two are showrunner Tasha Huo and voice actor/head of Critical Role's animated adaptations Sam Riegel. Already having been confirmed for a second season, The Mighty Nein's got the momentum to keep on keeping on, but in a recent interview, Huo and Riegel got into specifics.
The interview in question is from Critical Role's Fireside Chat series, the Beacon-based interview show where the creators of the massively popular TTRPG actual play webseries sit down and answer questions from the fans. In December of last year, one of those fan questions directly asked guests Huo and Riegel how many seasons they had envisioned for Prime Video's second animated venture into Exandria. After throwing out some joke answers - "one million," or "nine," said Huo, because of the pun - the creators got more serious.
"I don't know," Huo answered more seriously, "However long it takes to tell the whole story. It's a big, long story. And the more seasons we get, the more intricate we can get too."
"I feel like we can tell a story," followed Riegel, emphasizing that 'a,' "In five. It would not be complete. [...] Six would be better."
"Seven would be great," said Huo enthusiastically, and Riegel didn't disagree. However, he did push back on just throwing out bigger numbers.
"Nine seems excessive," said the Phoenix Wright star. "We'd be doing that into our eighties, no thank you."
"I mean," Riegel suddenly shifted. "Yes, thank you. Yes, I would love to do that. Please don't cancel us."
I wouldn't worry about that, Sam. I do worry about you all still doing this forty years from now, though.
The Mighty Nein season 1 is streaming now on Prime Video. Firesie Chat streams on Beacon.
