Chris Evans became America's hero with his role as Marvel's Captain America, and that's why we found his role in the murder mystery Knives Out so entrancing.

In talking to Evans Saturday at Seattle's Emerald City Comic Con, Popverse's Veronica Valencia brought up his villainous turn as the spoiled playboy Ransom Drysdale. But as it turns out, Evans didn't know he was the murderer when he first got involved, and it didn't really sink in until filming was underway.

"... You want to be surprised," Evans tells Popverse. "Luckily, my agent didn't spoil the reveal for me when they gave me the pitch. That was the one that kept me guessing, too. At the end of it I was like 'Oh its me?! Oh Great! Great!'"

Evans recounts first learning about Knives Out during the filming of Avengers: Endgame, and immediately asking to be put in touch with writer/director Rian Johnson.

"... I remember calling my team 'Please get this for me. Please let me talk to Rian. I know I can do this well.' It's exactly the type of movie I love, so I was really happy about that one."

Evans was hesistant to even spoil Knives Out four years later when talking about this in front of fans in the audience for Popverse's spotlight on Chris Evans.

"I don't wnat to ruin it. Has everyone seen it?," Evans asks meekly. "No, I did it. It was me."
