The first Natural Six US live show at PAX East was like watching The Beatles debut on Ed Sullivan

Natural Six, a new D&D actual play group featuring voice actors Doug Cockle, Ben Starr, Harry McEntire, Alex Jordan and Hollie Bennett, had a smashing first show abroad at PAX East

These days, there are scores of D&D groups you can watch and listen to actual plays of online, but Natural Six has quickly built up steam within the gaming community. And for good reason, they’re a lot of fun!

Led by Dungeon Master Harry McEntire, whose voice you may have heard in games such as Xenoblade Chronicles 3 (as Noah) and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (as Hunwald), Natural Six is composed of voice actors Doug Cockle (Geralt in The Witcher series), Ben Starr (Clive Rosfield from Final Fantasy XVI), Alex Jordan (Rook in Dragon Age: The Veilguard), and Hollie Bennett (Cyberpunk 2077). Rounding out the group is Aoife Wilson, a writer, host, video producer, and veteran gamer. Natural Six got their start in 2024 after the group successfully funded a Kickstarter for their first series in 2023.

Since Natural Six is based in the UK, the group made their US debut at PAX East 2025... and the hype was real. When I walked to the Albatross Theater, the line to get into the panel was labyrinthine on one side of the hallway. Smiling attendees huddled together, excited energy crackling between them. Outside, a rainstorm raged, drenching everyone who didn’t bring a windproof golf umbrella into a state of biblical misery. Inside the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, however, none of that mattered. Paul Revere be damned, the British were coming, and PAX attendees were ready to welcome them with open arms.

As I watched fans settle into their seats, the energy around me felt more akin to a rock concert than a panel at a convention. Fans sat on the edges of their chairs, and even though it was 8:30 on a Friday night during PAX weekend, folks weren’t bringing any tired energy to Natural Six. Instead, it felt like it was the main event for a lot of people - myself included. While I first got into Natural Six because I’m a huge fan of Ben Starr and Doug Cockle’s work (them talking to each other in-character as Clive Rosfield and Geralt of Rivia lives in my head rent free), I was instantly won over by Alex Jordan’s charming Kobold rogue named I. Yes, that’s “I” pronounced like “aye,” “eye,” and of course, the first person personal pronoun. “I is we,” yes.

Once the cast of Natural Six came onstage, the room erupted in cheers. Even more excitement came when the cast was joined by actress Anjali Bhimani, who voices Symmetra in Overwatch. Fans maintained this level of energy throughout the two hour long session, sustained by the characters’ funny antics. Ben Starr’s wizard character, Raidion, challenged an arrogant human NPC described by Harry McEntire as looking like a thumb to an actual thumb war (which Raidion valiantly lost). This experience would continue to haunt Raidion throughout the rest of the session, with Starr popping in every once in a while to ask if an object the characters were examining was in fact, a deviously disguised thumb.

It was not lost on the cast of Natural Six that this was their first live show in America. At several points, when cast members rolled badly, they joked that their audience wasn’t doing a proper job at welcoming them to their country. To their credit, PAX fans got themselves together by the end of the session during an epic combat encounter on a pirate ship, where several Natural Six characters managed to roll natural twenties. Hey, America is pretty disappointing these days, but at least the good people of PAX East got the dice gods on their side for Natural Six. It’s the least we could do.

I hope to see much more of Natural Six on the convention circuit in the near future. Each cast member struck a balance between professionalism, game knowledge, and a sense of irreverent fun, without the session ever feeling too inaccessible or overly theatrical. While roleplay and performance are certainly important dimensions of Dungeons and Dragons, creativity and teamwork is where the real magic happens. And Natural Six has no shortage of it.
