Life is Strange actor Han Soto wants to play the boulder that killed his character - and save his own life

Everyone wants to change the course of their destiny, but only Life is Strange actor Han Soto has a specific plan that involves him playing the object that killed him

Pity poor Gabe Chen. As fans of Life is Strange: True Colors are all too aware, Gabe — the brother of the game’s protagonist Alex — is the reason Alex gets drawn into the massive conspiracy surrounding Typhon Mining, as she investigates his suspicious death. Yes, Gabe’s entire purpose in the game is to die after being crushed by a boulder in a landslide… but the actor who plays him has some feelings about how he could change that, given the change.

Asked during the Rewinding Time: A Decade of Life is Strange panel at PAX West 2025 if there were other characters in the game series they would have wanted to play beyond their own, panelists including Katy Bentz (who voices Steph in both Life is Strange: Before the Storm and Life is Strange: True Colors) and Emily Mori (Alex) offered up understandable options:  Chloe Price from the original game for Bentz, Steph for Mori. Han Soto, who voices Gabe, went in a different direction, however.

“There is another character I’d like to play,” he told the crowd. “That boulder, and I just shift to the left a little bit… Play the boulder, shift it a little bit to the left, we bounce over Gabe, you know what I mean?”

Well, that’s certainly one way to ensure that you still have work. Technically, twice as much, in that he’d be voicing the boulder as well as Gabe. We can only hope that the boulder’s only line of dialogue would be “Look out below!”

PAX West 2025 runs until September 1 at the Seattle Convention Center.
