Being Captain America is a big responsibility, and that includes playing him on film. It is something that MCU stars Anthony Mackie and Chris Evans have talked about before, but surely there are some perks that come with it, right? Besides the obvious boost to his career and the financial security from spending more than a decade in the MCU, Anthony Mackie shares one delicious perk of playing Captain America in films.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Anthony Mackie was asked about the perks of being Captain America. Making the move from sidekick to hero has given him a notable boost in popularity, it seems. “You know what? I thought I was pretty well known,” he explained. “And you hear all these famous dudes talk about all the stuff they get and the people they meet. And you see people hanging out with LeBron, you know? And Beyonce and Jay-Z. And my entire career, I got nothing. Like, I had to pay for everything.”
“But since Captain America came out, ya’ll. Ya’ll… I get free appetizers now. Everywhere I go. Everywhere I go. And I get the good cheese like Gorgonzola.”
Aside from being a fantastic joke setup and delivery, Mackie claims he’s “not to entrée status yet,” but that might be about to change when he finally gets to play the lead in one of the big MCU crossover films like Avengers: Doomsday.
