Paramount+ is so confident about Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, it's releasing three months earlier - in 2 weeks

After an ever-changing release date and minimal marketing, Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender finally has a trailer.

Trying to keep track of all the changes to the Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender release date is a full-time job at this point. What started as a theatrical release was changed to direct-to-streaming in October. Then, the whole film leaked online, so Paramount has moved the release date up to less than two weeks from now.

It is probably safe to say that this wasn’t the original plan for the movie, which takes place between Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra and features a grown-up Team Avatar trying to find the key to rebuilding the Airbender tribe. We’ve known for a while what the new designs of the characters are, but, unless you watched the leaked film earlier this year, we hadn’t seen the animation that Avatar Studios cooked up until the first (and probably last) trailer was released yesterday.

Here is the frustrating bit: this movie looks gorgeous. Big, fluid action. Beautiful backgrounds. Lush colors and stylized characters. Stakes that are both personal and global. Everything we wanted from the return of one of the most celebrated American animated series of all time. It is bad enough that we won’t get to see Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender on the big screen like the crew clearly wanted, but Paramount releasing it onto their streaming platform with limited marketing or fanfare feels criminal.

The new release date for Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender is July 25, 2026, when it will be on Paramount+. It isn’t the release we were hoping for, but hopefully it can still be as epic as the trailer feels.
