Halle Berry swears Storm really isn't in Avengers: Doomsday: "You all think I’m being coy"

The Goddess of the X-Men has spoken: Halle Berry says that she's not going to be in Avengers: Doomsday as Storm despite what fans believe

For a minute, it looked like the entire band from the Fox X-Men films was getting back together for Avengers: Doomsday, with Rebecca Romijn, Alan Cumming, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellen (and Kelsey Grammer, I guess) reprising their roles in the next big Marvel Studios tentpole this December. But, as anyone with a soul can tell you, where are Famke Janssen and Halle Berry?

While Janssen's involvement has been the matter of no small amount of speculation in recent weeks, thus far, Halle Berry hasn't confirmed that she's going to appear as Storm in Avengers: Doomsday, and she's doubling down on it now. While speaking to Variety, Berry said, "Storm’s not there. I promise you. You all think I’m being coy and I’m being silly, but I’m not there.”

So there you have it, folks! Don't expect to see Halle Berry as Storm in Doomsday.

Based on the X-Men teaser we got for Doomsday, where Marsden's Cyclops takes his visor off and lets his optic beams run wild against what we can assume are Sentinels, this makes sense. Let's remember that Storm is an Omega-level mutant - and so is Iceman (also worth noting that Shawn Ashmore hasn't been confirmed for Doomsday, either). Cyclops may be an expert tactician, but when the going gets tough, he's going to be nowhere near as heavy a hitter as Storm or Iceman. In fact, Storm didn't even need her mutant weather powers to defeat Cyke when they fought in the Danger Room in Uncanny X-Men #201 by Chris Claremont, Rick Leonardi, and Whilce Portacio. Never bet against Ororo.

Anyways, without Storm at their side, I wish the X-Men the best of luck in Avengers: Doomsday.
