James Gunn is fine letting The Brave and the Bold take years — because The Batman Part II comes first
The Batman: Part II is out in 2027, and James Gunn says we shouldn't expect to hear too much about the Caped Crusader in the shared DCU until after that

When it was announced that Superman was going to be the launch of a new DCU shared universe, the immediate question on everyone’s mind was, of course, when we’d get a Batman movie. While we know that The Brave and the Bold will be introducing Batman to the DCU, it seems James Gunn is still waiting for the script to be finished on that movie. But that’s fine, because he doesn’t want to overshadow The Batman: Part II.
The revelation that James Gunn is waiting for a finished script for The Brave and the Bold before he sets a release date isn’t unexpected – he’s already said that he wouldn’t greenlight a film without a polished script. However, Batman fans, being Batman fans, have gotten impatient and begun asking him on social media when The Brave and the Bold would be coming out. Gunn’s answer, that he was willing to wait as long as it took for the script to be done, had one fan criticizing his commitment to the DC Trinity. On Threads, the user said that Gunn was “undervaluing the importance of Bruce Wayne being involved in the DCU.”
“I’m not at all,” James Gunn responded. “I think both Batman and [Wonder Woman] are incredibly important. But I’m also not going to have two Batman movies come out in the same year.”
In the same message thread, James Gunn said that we shouldn’t expect too much movement on The Brave and the Bold until after Matt Reeves’ The Batman: Part II is out in 2027, as he wouldn’t want to “cloud the Batsphere until after that.”
The Batman: Part II is out October 1, 2027. We’ll have to wait until sometime after that to find out when Batman will be joining the DCU properly.
