In 2021 the world lost Betty White. The beloved actress passed away in her sleep at age 99. Shortly after her passing, White’s friend and colleague Jamie Lee Curtis came up with a heartwarming way to honor the actress.

“I was asked to do the Betty White tribute,” Jamie Lee Curtis says during a spotlight panel at New York Comic Con 2022. “Betty White passed away, I had made a movie called You Again with her, very sweet movie, and I was asked to [do the tribute]. She was an animal rights activist, and I said to them, ‘You know what, I’m only going to do it if I can bring a little rescue dog out with me because she was an animal rights activist, and in her honor I would like to go out on the Oscars and say hey everybody, Betty White was this cool lady and she loved animals more than you, and basically somebody in the world, I would like you to adopt.’”

“The puppy’s name was Mac and Cheese. In honor of Betty White go rescue an animal today. If you love her, show her by rescuing an animal like little Mac and Cheese. When I was backstage, I ran into John Travoltsa, who I love. And his family lost Kelly Preston two years ago, and I communicated with him then. I ran into him backstage and I had the little puppy, and I was like, ‘I’m going out and doing this thing with the dog.’”

Travolta was instantly smitten. “Guess who adopted Mac and Cheese? And guess who flew Mac and Cheese back to his home in Florida the next day? If you follow John, go on his Instagram, and you will see [photos and videos] of little Mac and Cheese, whose name is now Peanut. That’s my John Travolta. That’s who John Travolta is.”

Do yourself a favor and Google “John Travolta Peanut.” You’ll be treated to lots of wonderful images of John Travolta and his adorable little dog. They look so cute together, and I can’t think of a better way to honor Betty White.
