There's a secret backstory to how Mr. Terrific was recruited to Maxwell Lord's Justice Gang, but Sean Gunn says he can't share it (yet)
Sean Gunn says there's much more to the Justice Gang than what you've seen in Superman and Peacemaker.

In the recent Superman movie, the businessman Maxwell Lord is revealed to be the sponsor of the Justice Gang - similar to how the comic book version worked to help establish some iterations of the Justice League. Actor Sean Gunn, who also plays Weasel and G.I. Robot in the DC Universe, outlines at Fan Expo Chicago the relationships Lord has with the three inaugural Justice Gang members who were introduced in Superman: Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, and Mr. Terrific.
"The whole process is very new for all of us, for those characters," Sean Gunn says. "We're just kind of figuring out what this means and where this thing can go. It's fun to be right on the ground floor of this could be a thing if we put these people together."
The Justice Gang has two true beliefs, Sean Gunn says at Fan Expo Chicago.
"I think with both Guy Gardner and Hawkgirl they're very much part of the team right away," he says. "Maxwell knows that they're the first people to get there and under the wing so to speak."
Then there's Mr. Terrific, who agreed to help Lois Lane in the new Superman film after team leader Guy Gardner refused to dispatch the Justice Gang. He told the Daily Planet reporter he would help "only because it will piss off Green Lantern."
"Mr. Terrific... I can't talk too much about that. I can only say I'm very excited to share that backstory with an audience when the time comes," Sean Gunn says. "But I don't want to see my name in the papers."
