“We don't all have the luxury of deciding when and where we want to care about something.”
This line from Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor has become one of the most memorable pieces of dialogue from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The line perfectly sums up the themes of the film, and Luna’s delivery of it is powerful.
However, this piece of dialogue wasn’t in the original script. In fact, it’s something that Luna and the Rogue One production team came up with while shooting the film. “You know what, that one was an [alternate line],” Luna revealed during a spotlight panel at MegaCon 2026. “We didn’t know if it was going to be in the film.”
He continued: “Ah, damn. That just brought back memories. We were trying to build all the confrontation and there was a lot that we were bringing in that it was also to heat it up. To make sure that the scene had the right energy. So, there was a few lines that were alternatives or just lines to get us in the right tone and energy. And that was one of those, and it ended up being in the film.”
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is streaming on Disney+ now.
