Been on a Spider-Man forum lately? One of the folks you might've talked to was Tom Holland

I know that "investigative reporting" is more Clark Kent's thing than Peter Parker's, but the latter's current real-life avatar has a real knack for research. At least, that's the idea we get from a recent revelation of the MCU's Tom Holland, who explained that he's been sneakily browsing Marvel fandoms online in an effort to give fans what they wanted in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The news comes from an interview Holland did with Esquire published September 9. In the piece, the Marvel Cinematic Universe actor spoke about his role developing the story for the fourth Spider-Man film, saying that he wanted to "to bring the fans something that's really worthy of their time." So how did he make sure that this film would do that?
"I did a lot of sneaky research online," Holland told his interviewer, "Looking at what people were saying in the interim between Spider-Man: No Way Home and now Spider-Man: Brand New Day. I really just kind of put together a vibe of what people were looking for and went to Marvel and said, 'This is what I think we should be doing.' And I think that's exactly what we are doing."
Now, if you've spent any time in an online superhero forum, whether that be Reddit, Twitter, or even TikTok, you know that teh experience isn't always a pleasant time. But according to Holland, it's been more than worth it.
"It's been a really fun process developing the movie," Holland concluded. "It's the first time I've ever been allowed in that part of the process, and it's definitely a stressful experience. But I think where we've got to, now that we're shooting, we are shooting absolute gold."
