We all have embarrassing childhood memories. For some, it’s calling your teacher “Mom” or “Dad” in front of the entire class or having a bathroom related accident in front of your friends.
For Daniel Logan it was calling legendary actor Christopher Lee “old.”
When he was 13-years-old Logan was cast as Boba Fett in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. This was his first major film role, and it put him alongside some of the industry’s most legendary actors, including Christopher Lee.
As Logan explains, when his grandmother visited him on set, she was immediately starstruck seeing Christopher Lee. Logan went to introduce them, resulting in an embarrassing (but fun) childhood memory.
“I have never met [Lee] myself, but for [nana], I would have done anything for her,” Logan says during a panel at Space Con 2025. “So, we go on over, and my nana had polio, which thank god we don’t have anymore, so she had a little limp, so she kind of hobbled over. We walked over to Christopher Lee, and she started fangirling out on him. And I’m like, ‘Hey, how are you doing? I’m Daniel.’ And he’s like, ‘[Christopher Lee impression] My boy, you’re doing a phenomenal job.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, thank you sir.’”
This is where things took a turn.
“I introduce my nana, and she’s just sitting there in awe, and he says, ‘Is this your first film?’ And I go, ‘Uhhh….yes sir, this is my first major film.’ And I replied back to him, ‘Is this your first film?’ And my nana’s looking at me like, this is not going the way I thought it was going to. And he’s like, ‘My boy, I have done over 150 films.’ And as a 13-year-old boy with no filter, I replied, ‘Oh my god, you must be old.’ Because we filmed Star Wars and it took a whole year. So, I thought every movie takes a year to film. So, if he’s filmed 150 films, he’s like 150 years old.”
Logan tried to salvage the situation by making a love connection between Lee and his grandmother.
“I look over at [nana] and she’s just gone into her shell. And he’s looking down at me like, how rude. And so, I’m like how do I come back from this one? And my nana was like 52 at the time, so I thought maybe I’m going to try to see if they’re around the same age. I can kind of match him, not knowing who Christopher Lee was.”
“I’m like, ‘Are you like 52 or 53?’ And he goes, ‘My boy, you have just made my day.’ And then me and my nana hobble away. I’m like, ‘I’m sorry Nana. I’m not the best wingman.’ So yeah, Christopher Lee didn’t become my grandfather. I tried. What a story though. How cool would that have been?”
Truth be told, Count Dooku being Boba Fett’s grandfather feels like a Star Wars plot twist waiting to happen. Alas, maybe if Logan had been a smoother wingman. Don’t feel bad kid. We were all 13 once.
