In 2022 Robert Pattinson suited up as Batman to defeat the Riddler and save Gotham from a flood. The Batman was a commercial and critical sucess, but what’s next for the Dark Knight?
To no one’s surprise, Warner Bros. greenlit The Batman Part II, which will see Robert Pattinson return as Bruce Wayne, along with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. But when can we expect this movie?
Speaking to a crowd at ACE Superhero Comic Con 2024, Andy Serkis gave an update on the film. “Well, there is a huge arc which you’ve got – nah, I’m not giving away anything,” Serkis joked.
However, Serkis did give us a timeline on when the movie might start filming, and when we might see it in theaters. “Basically, I know nothing about the movie other than that I’ve just found out that we’re probably likely to be starting filming early next year. Therefore, if you do the math, it’ll be a year and a half after that.”
“I know that Matt [Reeves] is working really hard on the script,” Serkis continued. “Matt Reeves being Matt Reeves, the extraordinary filmmaker that he is, I can only assume that it’s going to be another brilliant script, because I thought what he did with that first film was pretty amazing. I loved working with Rob Pattinson, and I really look forward to playing Alfred once more.”
The Batman – Part II is scheduled to hit theaters October 2, 2026.
Batman is the most well-known superhero in the world — surprisingly, given how much he loves hanging out in the dark. But between his comics, TV shows, movies, games, and more, DC's Dark Knight is the hero this city/country/world/universe needs, and we have all you need to enjoy him even more:
