Geena Davis has a twisted idea for a Fly sequel where her character gives birth to bug children
Geena Davis discusses her unproduced Fly sequel which would’ve seen Veronica Quaife give birth to twin mutants

Geena Davis has unfinished business, and it involves a mutant bug child. In 1986, Davis starred in David Cronenberg's The Fly, a remake of a classic 1950s sci-fi horror where she played Veronica Quaife, a reporter who falls in love with Seth Brundle, a scientist played by Jeff Goldblum. If you’ve seen the film, then you know things get strange really fast: after a teleportation accident, Seth turns into a human-fly hybrid and ultimately dies, but not before Veronica becomes pregnant with his child.
Davis has a twisted idea for how the story would’ve continued. When asked if she ever wanted to do a sequel to any of her previous films, the actress didn’t hesitate. “Every movie I’ve ever made. Every one,” Geena Davis declared during her A League of Her Own spotlight panel at C2E2 2026. “I want to make a sequel to every one. I had an idea for a sequel to The Fly that would be called Flies. Because I end the movie pregnant and I thought, if I have twins, is one of them going to bug out or not? It would’ve been great.”
A sequel, The Fly II, was made without Davis in 1989. (The movie involved Brundle’s mutant son but took a different route than Davis’s pitch; Veronica Quaife appears briefly in the movie, played by a different actress.) Davis did try to get her sequel off the ground in the ‘90s, but nothing ever materialized. It’s a shame, because Geena Davis’s Flies sounds absolutely wild. Perhaps it's not too late, however; any movie about flies could probably get great buzz.
