"Life's too short to work with a-holes": How James Gunn is casting for the DC movies & TV shows, according to Sean Gunn
Sean Gunn says his brother James is being careful not to cast the biggest celebrity actors for the DCU.

The new DC Universe is soaring off to a strong start the Superman movie, Peacemaker season 2, the Supergirl movie, and more - including a 2027 sequel to Superman. But in all of that, James Gunn isn't looking to cast the most famous people - but instead the best people. That's according to his longtime collaborator (and brother), Sean Gunn.
"I was blown away [by their performances]," Sean Gunn says at Fan Expo Chicago. "I had been hearing from James about how great their auditions were."
James Gunn is meticulous about casting the right actors and does not worry about whether it's a big name or now, Sean Gunn says at Fan Expo Chicago.
"My brother is very, very thorough when he is auditioning for roles. He leaves no stone unturned. He does not jump to who's the biggest name who's interested in this. He wants to really, really find the actors who are exactly right for the role and also find good human beings to work with because life's too short to work with a-holes," Sean Gunn says.
Corenswet and Brosnahan nailed roles that are not easy to pull off, Sean Gunn says
"I saw the scene of them acting together, which is also the scene of their screen tests that they auditioned with. I was just knocked out," he says at Fan Expo Chicago. "There's a degree of difficulty factor that is hard to quantify when you're watching somebody act. Like some roles look harder than they are and some look easier than they are."
"And I think the idea of playing Superman and Lois Lane are these iconic characters," Gunn continues. " Everybody comes in with some notion of what they should be like or what their own mental images of those characters are. You know right out of the gate you're going to disappoint a percentage of people, you know. Not everyone's going to be happy. But what you're trying to do is find the emotional truth of the character, make them realistic, make them honest and have as many as people as possible understand it. I think they both knocked it out of the park."
